Daily Skin

A daily skin care regimen is important for optimal skin health. The skin is exposed to the harsh elements of the environment in Dallas and to internal elements such as stress or poor diet. The first line of defense against these elements and the natural aging process is a good skin care regime. There are four basic but essential components: cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, and protect. Cleansing the skin regularly rids itself of bacteria, excess sebum, and dead skin cells, thus preventing clogging of the pores. Exfoliating, both chemically or mechanically, promotes cell turn over and decreases breakouts. Hydrating the skin with a well-formulated moisturizer helps retain much needed water. As one ages, the skin becomes drier because it loses its ability to retain water, and it can cause fine lines and wrinkles to appear.  Protection is the most important step in a daily skin care regimen. Premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and skin cancer can all be caused by excessive sun exposure. It is recommended that everyone, all skin types, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 everyday, rain or shine, and reapply with additional sun exposure.
