How Does

Botox is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. Once injected into the targeted facial muscles, the protein blocks the signal from the nerve ending to the muscle, which prevents the muscle from contracting. This temporarily immobilizes the muscle and the wrinkle(s) are softened. This procedure is relatively painless and the effect can last 3-6 months. It is important for patients to seek a board certified experienced physician that is familiar with facial muscles, and understands that every patient’s muscles are different and react differently at every visit.
