Can Sunglasses Prevent Wrinkles?

Jul 24, 2018 - By Dr. Martin Kassir

Invest now in a good pair of sunglasses.  Sunglasses aren't just a fashion statement.  They protect your eyes from squinting, which can lead to future "crow's feet" or wrinkles.  If you already have developed fine lines or wrinkles, there are several options to help turn back the hands of time.  By simply adding a pair of sunglasses to your car or bag (and wearing them) you can protect your skin and minimize wrinkling around your eyes and forehead.  Make sure the frames are large enough but also have darker lenses, which will help reduce harmful rays.  Search for glasses with more of an opaque lense and UVA/UVB protection.  The bigger the frame, the better!  Think homage to Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Research has shown that individuals who wear sunglasses on a daily basis have less sun damage, skin wrinkling, and discoloration.  As we age our vision can lose sharpness; therefore, multiple muscles around the eye over compensate by helping us focus.

On average there are around 205 sunny days in any location, so be prepared and fashionable by donning those sunglasses!  Please contact our Dallas office for a personal consultation to keep your skin looking its best!
