Simple Tips To Improve Your Skin

Jul 16, 2018 - By Dr. Martin Kassir

Although your skin is the largest organ on your body, it can also be very delicate. Your facial skin deserves special attention, which is why it is important to keep it healthy. Here are a few tips you can try to improve the look and feel of your skin!  A happier, more confident you, is a healthier you!

Finding a daily routine

Cleanse your face! Start making it a priority now, so that you develop consistent daily habits. Use a gentle, non-abrasive, alcohol-free cleanser and warm water. Water that is too hot or too cold is not good for the skin.

  • Use your clean fingertips to apply your cleaner
  • Rinse your cleanser thoroughly from your skin
  • Gently pat (or press) your skin dry; use a separate towel for your face and one for your hands or body (you will want to avoid any chance of cross contamination)

Moisturize and massage

Moisturizer should be applied twice daily. Use caution around your eyes.

  • Your morning routine should include applying moisturizer followed by your SPF (of 30+ or higher)
  • Evening routine should be something you look forward to. Your night cream should be thicker, allowing for more hydration

Wear sunscreen

  • Find a sunscreen you like, sunscreen has had many advancements the past serveral decades! Whether it is fragrance, product weight, or its finish, it is very important you do not skip this!
  • Sunscreen needs to be applied daily, not just when you know you will be outside. The sun can have many harmful rays/side effects. Even with a little bit of exposure here in Dallas, Texas the sun can be exceptionally strong (running errands, walking during lunch, short and long-distance drives) even on the cloudiest of days it's important to be prepared.
  • A good idea is to apply your moisturizer and follow up with your suncreen, allow your products to rest (wait at least 10 minutes in-between your applications) before applying your makeup. Your options are almost endless when selecting a sunscreen! SPF is available in various forms such as with a skin tint, spray on, balms, 2 in 1 moisturizer and sunscreen combo, foam, etc. Find what YOU like! Don't worry, it may take a few tries to find what you like most.

Remember, you and your skin are unique! Don't be afraid to give brands a "test drive." If you are still unsure which products to use, please contact our Dallas office for assistance to help answer your questions and help you select a product for your skin type!

Bonus!

Personalizing your routine, you may consider adding a serum or a corrective treatment to your product "line up'" serums and corrective treatments before your moisturizer morning or evening. Your moisturizers purpose is to be the final step (unless applying SPF, then that is your final step)
